week, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) revealed that they
had possession of Iranian documents dating from 2004 containing a
drawing showing how to make part of an atomic warhead and its delivery
system. They called this development “alarming.” Would that anyone
might notice, much less be alarmed.<br>
<br>
Furthermore, the documents indicate a clear and sole military purpose
to the atomic technology involved – as if there were any peaceful
purpose for a nuclear warhead. This runs directly counter to the
repeated denials made by Tehran that their known uranium-enriching
program was for domestic energy production. And this enriching will
soon be up to 6,000 centrifuge cascades, meaning they would have
sufficient fissile material to detonate this warhead by this autumn.&nbsp;

<p>There is an argument to be made for America’s
never-ending
presidential campaign in that it tests a candidate in a variety of
different ways.&nbsp; ... Judging by what has
transpired this week for Barack Obama and his suddenly faltering
campaign, one would think the candidate would have had a bellyfull of
untoward occurrences, staff gaffes, bad luck, and perhaps a touch of
incompetence on the part of the candidate himself.</p>
<p>It began Monday with Obama’s worst performance before
the national media to date. The candidate <a linkindex="288"
href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/27/AR2008012702160_2.html">has
been chided </a>
in the past for his lack of press availability so perhaps the media was
a little on edge as Obama, smiling, stepped up to the podium.</p>
<p>He
wasn’t smiling when he stepped down 15 minutes later. After a staffer
called out “Last question,” Obama didn’t even wait for the query but
instead, stomped away while the press roared out a cacophony of
questions about Tony Rezko and the <span class="caps">NAFTA</span>
flap at the retreating candidate. Opening himself up to derision, the
candidate turned back briefly and with a forced smile on his face,
pleading with the press, “C’mon guys. I answered like 8 questions.”</p>
<p>The
Chicago Sun Times, whose reporters were a big part of making the
presser an uncomfortable experience for the candidate, taunted Obama;
first, <a set="yes" linkindex="289"

a piece </a>that
featured the phone number of the newspaper in the headline asking the
candidate to call in and answer questions about his relationship with
Tony Rezko – this after Obama said that he had been unable to sit down
with reporters about the matter. Then today, the Sun Times takes Obama
to task for only <a set="yes" linkindex="290"

You Ain’t Payin’ Attention”—so worked up isn’t the Jena Six or nooses
on Columbia University doorknobs; it’s the illegal immigrants who
allegedly murdered three Newark college students last August. And when
he excoriates politicians for “letting this happen,” he’s directing his
fire at Congressional Black Caucus members who support open borders and
amnesty for illegal aliens. “Massive illegal immigration has been
devastating to my community,” Anderson, a former auto mechanic and
longtime South Central Los Angeles resident, tells listeners. “Black
Americans are hit the hardest.”<br>
<br>
Though blacks have long worried that the country’s growing foreign-born
population, especially its swelling rolls of illegal immigrants, harmed
their economic prospects, they have also followed their political
leadership in backing liberal immigration policies. Now, however, as
new waves of immigration inundate historically African-American
neighborhoods, black opinion is hardening against the influx. “We will
not lay down and take this any longer,” says Anderson. If he’s right,
it could upend the political calculus on immigration.<br>

<div style="margin-left: 40px;">Here's insight into the corrupt
and heavy-handed nature of Maryland's democrat party controlled gummint
. Will the taxes be abated?&nbsp; Not a chance, but a cursory read of
this article demonstrates the&nbsp; scofflaw attitude that
prevails.&nbsp; Several years ago, after it became apparent that voters
would not okay tax measures to build the Raven's football stadium, we
awoke one morning to discover that Gov. Schaeffer and his Annapolis
mafia had simply decreed them in the dead of night.&nbsp; I know what

<br>
ANNAPOLIS — A package of taxes and fees passed during the recent
General Assembly special session took effect yesterday after a Carroll
County judge declined to impose a stay while a lawsuit challenging the
validity of the session makes its way through the courts.<br>
<br>
Smokers yesterday started paying $1 more per pack of cigarettes, while
taxes increased for car buyers, corporations and high-wage earners. A
penny increase in the state sales tax is to take effect tomorrow.<br>
<br>
Republican legislative leaders are still awaiting the outcome of a long-shot legal case that could overturn the tax increases.<br>
<br>
Irwin Kramer, the lawyer representing five Republican lawmakers and a
Carroll County businessman who brought the lawsuit, is scheduled to
depose the key witness (<span style="font-style: italic;">chief clerk of the House
of Delegates, Mary Monahan had been in hiding</span>) in the case this morning in Annapolis.<br>
<br>
<span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 204);">Mr.
Kramer has taken the unusual step of requesting a judge be present when
he deposes chief clerk of the House of Delegates, Mary Monahan, because
he thinks lawyers with the state Attorney General's Office will try to
block questions during the deposition.</span><br style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 204);">
<br style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 204);">
<span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 204);">"I know when I ask the first question they are going to say, 'Don't answer that,' " he said yesterday.</span><br>
<br>
The case, based on an obscure provision of the state constitution that lawmakers may have (<span style="font-style: italic;">oh, they did</span>)
violated during the frenzied session in November, has turned on charges
that someone may have doctored the House Journal in an attempt to
conceal the constitutional misstep.<br>
<br>
But even if Carroll County Circuit Court Judge Thomas F. Stansfield
rules in favor of the plaintiffs and finds that the Senate adjourned
without the proper authority, it is far from certain whether he will
invalidate the tax increases and the slot-machine gambling referendum
approved during the session.<br>

Had the mob been assailed with grape and canister on Monday, when the first disturbance took place, it would have been a saving of life and property.
